When it comes to inoculating mushroom substrate bags with a liquid culture syringe, Liquid Fungi provides step-by-step instructions to ensure success. Liquid cultures are versatile and can be used to start mushroom growth on various mediums such as fruiting bags, grain bags, plugs, and agar. The following instructions detail the process of inoculating grain bags, but the same technique can be applied to any type of bag.
To inoculate the substrate bag, gather supplies including a flow hood or glovebox, 70% alcohol, nitrile gloves, a roll of scotch tape, your culture, and sterilized grain bags. Clean your hands thoroughly, wipe the injection point on the bag, shake the culture syringe, and prepare the needle for injection. Inject 1ml of liquid culture into the bag, cover the injection point with tape, mix the substrate bag, and then incubate until ready.
